NI-9215
The NI-9215 is a four-channel C Series voltage input module that samples all channels simultaneously at 100 kS/s each with 16-bit resolution on a ±10 V differential range, behind a 250 Vrms channel-to-earth isolation barrier. It goes into a CompactDAQ chassis or CompactRIO and suits phase-sensitive voltage measurements.

Simultaneous sampling on the NI-9215
Each of the four channels has its own sample-and-hold and SAR converter, so all four are sampled at the same instant at up to 100 kS/s per channel. A multiplexed device would add channel-to-channel skew when you compare phase between signals, compute power from voltage and current, or time events across channels. NI specifies the conversion time as 4.4 µs for one channel and 10 µs for all four. The range is ±10 V differential, input bandwidth is at least 420 kHz, and calibrated accuracy is 0.02% of reading plus 0.014% of range typical at room temperature.
The module needs a CompactDAQ chassis such as the cDAQ-9174 or cDAQ-9178, or a CompactRIO. It comes in screw-terminal ($1,239), spring-terminal ($1,178) and BNC ($1,239) versions at list prices at the time of writing. The screw and spring versions are isolated to 250 Vrms channel-to-earth (Measurement Category II) and the BNC version to 60 VDC (Category I). There is no isolation between channels, and the BNC version has a different common-mode rule. All its inputs must stay within 10.2 V of the average AI- inputs.
NI-9215 on Linux, Windows and Mac
In a USB cDAQ chassis the NI-9215 is supported by NI-DAQmx on Windows and on desktop Linux (RHEL 9 and 10, openSUSE Leap 15.6 and 16, Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04). macOS has no NI-DAQmx, and NI-DAQmx Base stopped at version 15.0 and macOS 10.14. The sample rate and aliasing guide covers picking a per-channel rate. DAQAtlas, which is in development, reaches the NI-9215 through DAQAtlas Bridge on a Windows or Linux PC next to the chassis.
Questions
Is the NI-9215 simultaneous sampling?
Yes. All four channels are sampled at the same time, at up to 100 kS/s per channel.
Can the NI-9215 work without a cDAQ chassis?
No. It needs a CompactDAQ chassis or a CompactRIO controller.
Is the NI-9215 isolated?
Yes, to 250 Vrms channel-to-earth on the screw and spring terminal versions and 60 VDC on the BNC version, with no channel-to-channel isolation.
